Blood For The Blood God!

Realm of Chaos Khorne Warband

Greetings fellow wargamers! This was a fun project Whiskey Priest organized last year but I never got around to blogging about it. I was organizing my hobby room and finally got my act together and took some decent pictures.

My Undead Army

Dem Bones in the New World!

Well I said I would never do it, but here we are... I've wanted to collect an undead army ever since I saw Richard Gunson's undead army in White Dwarf 142. My first Warhammer Fantasy army was Orcs and Goblins and stuck with those through a couple different editions. I always told myself that I would never go down the rabbit hole of collecting undead, but then I got a few sprues of skeletons in a trade and all of a sudden I'm staring at 2000 points of painted undead. Funny how life works.

Skirmish Gaming Frenzy!

Big time fun with small games

Welcome back readers! Its been a busy couple of months and I've got some great games in with people from all over the US community. Over the summer I got together with Grove and Maj Guiscard in Illinois to play a weekend campaign, The Fight for New Texas. It was a great campaign which you can read up on over on Give 'em Lead and The Governor General of Sector Six. I also made it over to Historicon in Lancaster and had a bit of an impromptu Oldhammer USA meetup. Last weekend was Oldhammer US in New Jersey, and we are just wrapping up Monolithcon III in Illinois again.

Over the past few months, I've had a chance to put several rule sets and house rules to the test and have come up with great ideas for developing a framework for a campaign. I'll cover some of those rules and what I thought worked well and what didn't.

Dark Elves Invade The Old World!

The Chronicle of Rakarth Iceheart begins...

On a chilly autumn morning, a young peasant boy caught the terrifying sight of dozens of black sails off the coast of his home in Lyonesse. Alarmed, he turned and began to run back towards home to warn his village of the oncoming menace. The boy ran so hard that he could feel his heartbeat throbbing in his skull. Just then he felt as if a horse had kicked him in the chest and he was thrown on his back, all the air had been knocked out of his lungs. He was dizzy and confused when it seemed like the world around him began growing dark. He looked down at his chest and was horrified to discover three black crossbow bolts embedded in his torso. He tried to scream but he could not find the breath. The world went black.

Holy Grail Found!

Consult The Book of Armaments!

I don't know if everyone has a certain miniature that is their "holy grail", but I do. I actually did own this figure as a kid, but it was lost in a move or probably tossed out with some other miniatures when I left the house. In any case, I had been keeping an eye out for this particular figure for years. If you're not familiar with this guy, he is the Elites gang leader from the short lived Confrontation line, the precursor to Necromunda.

Too Much Beer and Pretzels

It's time to step up the game

The hobby has been great to me over the past few years. Through the Oldhammer Forum and community events like BOYL and NOVAOSGROT I've been able to meet some very talented like-minded hobbyists. There have been more Oldhammer related super-secret Facebook miniature projects and Kickstarters over the past two years than you can shake a stick at. The icing on the cake is that I've been able to correspond with other hobbyists and really ramp up the productivity level. I've been fortunate enough to be able to get my painted figures on the same table as some of the figures I had only ever seen on other blogs and forum posts.

THAT. BEING. SAID.

It's time to step it up on the gaming front. While i'm all about beer and pretzels gaming, it's time I really step up my gaming efforts. While its been loads of fun to be able to just throw stuff on the table and have great time rolling dice, it's time we got our act together and put together some really well planned games and campaigns.
